Main Purpose of Job
The Reentry Deputy Director position supports the strategic leadership and administration of statewide reentry initiatives aimed at promoting successful transition from incarceration to the community. Working under the Executive Director of Reentry this position helps guide program operations policy implementation and partnership development across multiple agencies and community stakeholders. The Deputy Director plays a key role in advancing the states mission to reduce recidivism expand access to critical support and strengthen outcomes for returning citizens. This position requires a collaborative leader with strong organizational analytical and communication skills and is passionate about the success of individuals reentering society.
POSITION DUTIES
The Deputy Director of Reentry role would address critical needs and gaps in the current DPSCS Reentry operational areas:1. Directing the daily operations of the Reentry Department including attending meetings and events on behalf of the Executive Director and DPSCS
2. Collaborating with community agencies and state correctional leadership related to Reentry programming and expansion efforts
3. Coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the reentry program to ensure compliance with policy and procedures
4. Active participation in all statewide facility reentry collaborative meetings
5. Managing the preparation of required reports for the Reentry Department for Executive Directors review
6. On behalf of the Executive Director requests and monitors data for Reentry Department
7. Will be responsible for ensuring the updating and/or creation of Reentry Memorandum of Understanding manual and policy reviews and other documents are completed
8. Visiting and Monitoring the reentry staff and reentry initiatives within all statewide facilities
9. Communicate with the Executive Director of Reentry all of the above that relates to the coordinating monitoring and maintaining program and data for the reentry services of the incarcerated population.
10. In the absence of the Executive Director will function in that role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelors Degree from an Accredited college or University-Criminal Justice Social Work PublicHealth or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of seven years of experience working in corrections or in community based settings working
with justice involved population and at least five years of experience in a Supervisory capacity.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Masters degree from an accredited college or university for up tothree years of the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience within the correctional facility setting
- 4 years of Experience with reentry and case management systems
