About the role
AEMO in Western Australia is implementing comprehensive changes to the Wholesale Electricity Market and our operation of the South West Interconnected System to better plan and forecast system needs build the capability to operate with increasing levels of intermittent generation and encourage investment in the new facilities necessary to meet increasing demand and replace retiring thermal generation.
Representing a planned investment of $25m over a 3-year period the Reserve Capacity Mechanism (RCM) Review Program is a significant undertaking to support the energy transition implementing state government reforms to incentivise the investment in generation and demand side capacity needed to maintain reliability as demand for power grows and generation shifts towards intermittent renewable sources.
What you will be doing
- Lead the RCM Program driving collaboration between the various teams needed to deliver the outcome including core business teams supporting functions and external delivery partners.
- Develop business cases / investment briefs on behalf of the GM Sponsor and act as a spokesperson for the program communicate its purpose and progress and champion its accomplishments.
- Support Product Owners and Subject Matter Experts to identify and prioritise business capabilities required to deliver the business objectives and troubleshoot challenges as they arise.
- Support Change Managers to assess change impacts to business functions and develop appropriate management approach and Project Managers to develop estimates establish key milestones and define the testing and release approach.
- As the role evolves manage a small team of early career professionals to support the MD&EP teams during periods of peak activity (noting 0-1 direct reports initially).

- Relevant experience of the Western Australian energy sector including the Wholesale Electricity Market.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills a collaborative approach and ability to lead through influence.
- Pragmatic and able to make effective trade off and risk management decisions focused on overall business outcomes.
- Strategic thinker able to see the big picture.
- Able to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty and to work in a matrixed structure.
