About the Opportunity

The University of Tasmania is seeking a strategic leader to serve as Director of the Hobart Clinical School. This senior academic position is responsible for the effective delivery of Years 35 of the Medicine Program within the Royal Hobart Hospital and associated clinical sites.

The Director provides strategic and operational leadership across staff resources and facilities ensuring high-quality clinical education and training. The role is pivotal in maintaining strong collaborative relationships with the Royal Hobart Hospital executive clinicians health service partners and the broader UTAS Health community.

Key responsibilities include ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and curriculum requirements representing the Clinical School in internal and external forums and proactively managing risks related to program delivery accreditation and partnerships. The Director will also lead continuous improvement initiatives enhance student learning experiences and foster an inclusive and supportive workplace culture that promotes staff development wellbeing and engagement.

Whats Required

  • A record of successful academic and/or clinical leadership built on relevant postgraduate qualifications.
  • Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia and demonstrated achievement in clinical practice medical education and/or research.
  • Advanced capability in university-level teaching including design and development of innovative contemporary curricula and learning experiences.
  • Proven ability as an academic leader with a strong record in team building and creating effective working relationships driving and inspiring engagement and taking responsibility for mentoring professional development and growth in colleagues.
  • Good standing in the medical and broader community with sophisticated influencing skills and relationship development capability across diverse stakeholder groups. A history of success in achieving results through consensus commitment cooperation and teamwork will be highly valued.
  • A commitment to promoting work health and safety culture through personal example and the application of systems and processes.

Salary

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level D or E with a base salary withing the range of $166014 - $180018 at Level D and $205285 - $209391 at Level E plus 17% superannuation.
