Regulatory Change & Oversight Capital Markets
Summary
This role is a critical part of the Regulatory Change & Oversight team within Northern Trusts Capital Markets business.
The position is responsible for identifying assessing and supporting the implementation of global regulations that impact Capital Markets products and services offered to institutional clients.
As a subject matter expert you will provide centralized oversight of regulatory reporting implementation and escalation ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions and strengthening the firms risk management culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Monitoring & Interpretation: Stay ahead of regulatory developments across major markets (US UK EU AUS Singapore) and interpret complex requirements from bodies such as CFTC NFA ESMA FCA MAS and ASIC.
Impact Assessment & Advisory: Evaluate how new and evolving regulations affect Capital Markets products and services and provide actionable guidance to business leaders.
Policy & Governance Development: Establish and maintain robust policies procedures and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with global regulatory standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Compliance Legal Risk and business units to embed regulatory requirements into operational processes and controls.
Strategic Contribution: Influence Capital Markets strategy and operating model to align with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
Risk Management & Escalation: Identify high-risk situations advise on mitigation strategies and ensure timely escalation of regulatory issues.
Regulatory Change Management: Lead initiatives related to horizon scanning impact assessments regulatory reporting and governance enhancements.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate regulatory impacts effectively to internal and external stakeholders fostering a culture of compliance and risk awareness.
Project Leadership: Support ad hoc projects and provide leadership coverage for the regulatory change team when needed.
About You:
Experience: Typically requires 710 years in regulatory change compliance or risk management within a regulated financial services firm; experience in legal audit or governance roles is also valuable.
Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of global regulatory frameworks including MIFID EMIR FSMA and prudential risk management standards.
Analytical Skills: Ability to assess regulatory risks interpret complex rules and develop practical compliance solutions.
Communication & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills to consult with stakeholders at all levels and articulate regulatory requirements clearly.
Proactive Mindset: Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with horizon scanning impact assessments and governance frameworks to anticipate and manage regulatory change effectively.

Salary Range:
$114700 - 194900 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension) health and welfare benefits (medical dental vision spending accounts and disability) paid time off parental and caregiver leave life & accident insurance and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
