Position Description:

Faculty Associate positions are one semester non-benefits-eligible fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• TeachNEW101TheNewCollegeExperiencetofirst-yearundergraduatestudents within the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.
• Teach lower-division courses to undergraduate students in face-to-face hybrid or online formats.
• Prepare syllabus lectures class materials grade assignments and exams.
• Maintain regular availability to students including office hours as appropriate to course modality.
• Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in a related field at the time of appointment.

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge of the Canvas Learning Management system or equivalent.
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds including first-generation college students
• Experience teaching first-year and/or at-risk college students.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Evidence of teaching or one year of experience in student support services at a post-secondary institution.
• Evidence of excellent teaching/student support ability.
• Excellent English written and spoken communication skills.
• Evidence of teaching excellence e.g. student evaluations syllabi peer observation annual evaluations etc.
