Whats the role

Youll be the go-to person for making sure our risk controls work. As a Control Assessor Analyst youll test assess and fine-tune the way we manage non-financial risk across Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB). Youll help spot whats working whats not and where we can do better keeping our systems sharp and our people informed.

Based in Sydney youll conduct 1st Line controls testing and Control Self-Assessments (CSAs) across WIB ensuring theyre completed on time and meet internal and regulatory standards. Youll help identify control improvements maintain clear documentation escalate risks promptly and support the ongoing enhancement of risk management practices.

What do I need

  • You possess a keen ability to identify control gaps ask insightful questions and evaluate the effectiveness of existing frameworks. Youre confident in constructively challenging the status quo when something doesnt align.
  • Youre comfortable navigating large datasets extracting meaningful insights and translating them into clear actionable reports. Experience with risk analytics or reporting tools is highly regarded.
  • Youve worked within or alongside risk audit or compliance functionsideally in a large or complex organisation. You understand the Three Lines of Defence model and how to operate effectively within it.
  • You build strong relationships influence without authority and collaborate seamlessly across teamseven in dynamic fast-changing environments.
  • Youre committed to learning evolving and finding smarter ways to work. Youre not here to maintain the status quo - youre here to make a meaningful impact.
