Job Summary
WHAT YOULL DO
Assistant Teachers work closely with Early Learning Center teachers to plan and carry out developmentally appropriate play-based curriculum and activities for 3-5 year olds helping students develop comprehension and oral language in Spanish Chinese and English. Assistants also help and lead hands-on activities to foster cognitive and socio-emotional skills. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates interested in bilingual education to gain teaching experience with the opportunity to apply for an associate teacher position after completing the program. Assistants join a vibrant diverse faculty community and participate in ongoing professional learning. You will also:
- Help to build a robust learning atmosphere that leads students to value being at school and feel part of a joyful community
- Collaborate intensively and daily with colleagues to continually improve student learning and school culture
- Inspire trust and confidence among parents and families
Qualifications :
WHAT YOULL BRING
- Full professional fluency in Spanish and English
- Experience working with 3-5 years olds (e.g. assistant teacher camp counselor or related role)
- Interested in a career in early childhood education; masters candidates in early childhood or bilingual education strongly preferred
- Curiosity and humility to reflect welcome feedback and continually grow in teaching practice
- Experience in small group instruction preferred
- Bachelors degree
