Te Whiwhinga Mahi The opportunity

We are seeking a Lecturer in Public Policy (Economics) to join our team in response to growing student enrolments and increasing demand for online programmes and postgraduate supervision.

The successful candidate will contribute to both online and on-campus teaching within the Master of Public Policy (MPP) programme with a focus on courses related to economics public policy and research design. A key part of the role will involve supervising MPP and PhD students coordinating both online and on-campus dissertation enrolments and examinations.

This position offers the opportunity to align your research teaching and external engagement with the work of the Public Policy Institute (PPI) - a hub for evidence-informed policy-relevant and impact-oriented research involving staff students and professional associates.

We are looking for a colleague who brings strong community engagement skills and who can foster relationships with local and central government. Familiarity or openness to learn about with Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) and a willingness to build or strengthen connections with Māori and Pacific communities in Aotearoa New Zealand is essential.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Public Policy or cognate discipline or transdisciplinary area (which may include but is not limited to Economics Politics Māori Studies Indigenous Studies Pacific Studies Political Economy Sociology Law Public Administration).

The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity for productive high-quality research as well as experience in successful postgraduate teaching and readiness to undertake postgraduate supervision. Experience in successful research-informed online teaching and supervision is a requirement and experience in coordinating dissertation & thesis students would be an advantage.

The workload allocation for this position is 40% teaching 40% research and 20% service.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent role (subject to continuation).
The remuneration range is $97831 $116867 depending on qualifications and experience.
