The School of Computer Science is looking for two passionate and dynamic Lecturers in Quantum Computing to join the Theoretical Computer Science group.

As a Lecturer you will ensure that our students will have a positive learning experience that is informed by up-to-date research and supported by creative learning technologies. These two positions will contribute to the development and delivery of courses focusing on Quantum Computing as well as teach theory-focused courses offered by the School of Computer Science.

Applicants with expertise in any area of quantum computing are encouraged to apply. We especially seek candidates whose work aligns with the following priorities: quantum cybersecurity; post-quantum cryptography; secure quantum communication; quantum information theory; quantum channels; quantum computational complexity; quantum mathematical optimization; quantum AI/machine learning; quantum computing models/architectures; hybrid quantum-classical computing; quantum randomness and cryptanalysis; fault-tolerant quantum computing & quantum error correction.

Our academics undertake research across a wide range of computing fields including software engineering data science algorithms and theoretical computer science cyber security communication and information technology and systems development and evaluation. We teach in the Bachelor of Science Technology and Engineering programmes as well as supporting a vibrant postgraduate programme that attracts top-quality Masters and PhD candidates.

Your contributions will include world-class research publishing in world-class journals and conferences securing research grant funding high-calibre teaching as well as supervision of capstone projects and dissertations at the Master and PhD level.

Essentials for this position are:

  • A PhD in Quantum Computing or an area closely related to Quantum Computing
  • Strong track-record of research as evidenced by peer reviewed publications in high-reputable conferences and journals in the field of Quantum Computing

In addition some of the following experience is a nice to have:

  • Experience as a Postdoc/Research Fellow
  • Experience in generating research grants
  • Some experience of curricula design and teaching at undergraduate/postgraduate levels preferably in Quantum Computing topics
  • Experience to promote partnerships with external/professional organisations/agencies.
  • Experience in establishing a network of collaborators
  • Some experience in industry and/or collaborative research with industrial partners

This is a permanent full-time role (40 hours per week)

Remuneration range between $99788 - $112730 depending on skills and experience
