The Type Rated Instructor is responsible for training and assessing flight crew technical and non-technical skills in accordance with Qantas TACM requirements. This includes conducting assessments for license renewals ratings and endorsements on behalf of CASA.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
- Deliver flight crew technical and non-technical training in classroom procedural trainer and flight simulator environments
- Provide tailored remedial training and coaching under standards development management
- Support office functions as directed by the Training Manager
- Offer feedback on trainee performance and report simulator/device faults
- Participate in Professional Development Days and training meetings
- Review and contribute to training program development
- Embrace modern training techniques and technologies across all training formats
- Submit periodic reports to the Training Manager highlighting training issues and trends
- Operate within Qantas Flight Training policies and procedures
To be successful in this role you will ideally have the following experience qualifications and skills:
- Ability to adapt to modern training techniques and technologies
- CPL standard or higher pilot experience
- Operational or instructional experience on Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft (A320 preferred)
- Exposure to multi-crew flight operations
- Aviation-related degree or equivalent industry qualifications
- Experience instructing in simulators or transferable adult education experience
- Previous or current Check Pilot or Flight Examiner qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across the Flight Operations community
- Cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity aligned with Qantas values
- Proficiency in developing training materials using PowerPoint Word and Excel
- Ability to deliver training in varied environments including classroom procedural devices and simulators
- Accurate assessment of trainee performance
- Dedication to improving training courseware and processes
