What youll do:

As a Senior Credit Officer youll be responsible for approving administering and reviewing loans and loan commitments to ensure that they adhere to existing policy guidelines and that documentation is adequate to ensure security of collateral providing a first line of defense within the Banks Credit Risk Management framework. Youll oversee primary credit portfolio management and reporting activities consistent with the Banks policies and procedures. One of your key responsibilities is to build relationships with account officers by assisting in analyzing underwriting and managing credits as well as to support the Credit Administration team by expediting the teams prescreening underwriting and approval process.
  • Responsible for supporting the Chief Credit Officer by reviewing large and complex loans prior to submission to CCO. Communicate with CCO on deal pipeline portfolio issues and any other material matters. Consistently apply good decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries approvals requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development. Assist in reviewing and updating credit policies and procedures. Assure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
  • Review legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency with approved terms and conditions. Perform periodic assessments of concentration limits and concentration risk to local economy and periodic local economic analysis. Assist with preparation and review of quarterly portfolio reviews. Oversee loan grading process to ensure loans are properly risk rated. Assist in workout credits assigned to the department and prepares LAPSRs for criticized loans as well as preparing monitoring reports for Watch credits. Assist Loan Officers in the management of weak credits. Perform post mortems on charged off loans.
  • Update and correspond with legal counsel and collectors on workouts bankruptcies and charge-offs to ensure all possible precautionary actions or measures are taken. Work directly with the Banks overall Portfolio Credit Risk Management function providing data inputs quality control correction and feedback dashboard reporting and execution of corporate efforts surrounding Credit Portfolio Stress Testing Dual Risk Rating procedures concentration management and related Portfolio Credit Risk Management processes.
  • Lead and develop a team; responsible for hiring coaching performance management training and development.

What youll need:

  • 8 years of related experience.

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Experience in dealing with credit for the Venture Capital and Sponsor sectors of commercial lending strongly preferred.

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

  • Advanced to expert knowledge of general banking operations including deposit operations loan administration treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.

  • Advanced to expert knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations rules and regulations industry standards and practices.

  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.

Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $165000.00 - $205564.00 for San Jose CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job addition the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
