Job Summary: The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of gasoline or diesel-powered cranes mounted
on truck chassis. This role includes lifting moving and placing materials using rigging attachments such as hooks slings and shackles.
The operator also drives the crane to and from job sites and may perform millwright duties when not operating the crane.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Conduct daily safety inspections of crane(s) rigging and associated equipment; complete required documentation (e.g.
inspection logs critical lift forms).
* Lead and coordinate pre-lift planning and safety meetings with internal teams contractors and client representatives.
* Evaluate work areas and properly position and set up crane including outriggers blocking leveling and boom assembly.
* Operate crane in a safe controlled and efficient manner in accordance with OSHA and manufacturer guidelines.
* Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on crane and related equipment.
* Execute millwright tasks as assigned when not operating the crane.
* Maintain clear communication with riggers and signal people using approved hand signals or radios.
* Ensure the crane operating area is free of obstructions and that all safety protocols are followed.
While this position does not have any direct reports Crane Operator is also responsible for:
* Planning all aspects of the lift.
* Directing activities of the crane team.
* Verifying load weights and rigging integrity.
* Determining appropriate communication methods.
* Making final decisions on whether conditions are safe to proceed
