Job Summary

  • Full time ongoing role available
  • Salary from $164K pa to $189K pa super
  • Maitland preferred however all DPIRD office locations will be considered

As a Senior Mine Safety Officer with NSW Resources you will play a pivotal role in improving health and safety performance across NSW mines.

Youll exercise statutory and administrative responsibilities as an appointed government official ensuring effective risk management and incident prevention strategies are implemented throughout the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review High Risk Activity notifications and request further information from operators to determine adequacy.
  • Collaborate with Mining Engineering inspectors and other specialists across the Resource Regulator.
  • Process licences relating to polymerics for use in underground mines.
  • Respond to mining engineering and development enquiries and provide expert advice to Resource Regulator personnel on coal mining operations.
  • Undertake site-based assessments for mining engineering program plans including:
    • Verifying that High Risk Activities are conducted in line with proposed controls.
    • Attending coal metalliferous and quarry operations for planned assessments.
    • Responding to incidents or emerging issues during rostered shifts.
  • Staff the after-hours incident reporting hotline on a rostered basis.

What Were Looking For:

Ideally youll have tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering and solid proven management-level experience in an underground coal mine.

You must have:

  • A current Class C driver licence.
  • The willingness and ability to work weekends backshifts and respond to incidents outside normal business hours
  • Sound knowledge of mining and/or work health and safety legislation technology and best practice.
  • Strong communication collaboration and problem-solving skills.
