Job Description:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PharmD degree
Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency in health-system pharmacy administration or equivalent work experience.
Three (3) years of health-system pharmacy leadership and management experience
Preferred:
Masters degree in pharmacy administration healthcare administration or business preferred
Has held administrative positions in a large academic or complex health system for at least five (5) years
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist for both Illinois and Wisconsin
Board certified through the Board of Pharmacy Specialists preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the development of programs policies and protocols that are integrated across the system to enhance pharmacy operational efficiency quality patient safety and customer satisfaction.
Develops and articulates a short -term strategic vision for areas of responsibility. Develops system department strategies and directs development and implementation of new programs and services to achieve vision.
Leads the system acute care pharmacy leadership team to help identify and deploy organization and department strategic plans.
Assists in the planning for clinical programs manages the implementation of programs and evaluates program effectiveness.
Establishes effective working relationships and maintains open lines of communication with the medical staff nursing services and ancillary services as needed.
Ensures progress toward department objectives by establishing reporting systems department performance standards and methods to measure staff performance
Ensures that pharmacy services are in compliance with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations regulatory standards. Ensures compliance with all other applicable state and federal regulations including Sterile Compounding USP 797 and USP 800 standards.
Enforces all procedures policies and standards to ensure consistent application and effective operations.
Develops data-based performance and outcome metrics tracks and trends data and leads change initiatives to positively impact the metrics.
Monitors and analyzes financial data and utilizes for decisions regarding FTEs staffing and operational budget.
Assesses Manager and staff development needs identifies goals and provides necessary resources
Establishes an annual operation and capital budget demonstrating fiscal responsibility through meeting budget target goals.
Oversees and coordinates drug distribution to all ambulatory clinic departments.
Directs and provides guidance to managers to effectively allocate resources based on patient volume space availability budget constraints and program priorities goals and objectives.
Ensures visibility and appropriate participation and at times leadership within committees including but not limited to System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee Antimicrobial Stewardship Opioid Stewardship and Medication Diversion Committee Patient Safety and Medical Error Reduction TJC Readiness QAPI and other clinical and administrative committees
Manage complex interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to assure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within all acute care pharmacy service areas.
