The Senior Supervisor of Mine Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of mine production activities ensuring safety efficiency and compliance. The Senior Supervisor will report to the General Foreman and works closely with the Assistant Supervisor controllers and production crew to ensure the effective execution of operational plans and fleet management. This role is vital for maintaining production targets and ensuring short-term and long-term goals are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
Shift Start & Pass-Down from the outgoing shift and conduct a pit tour inspection.
Oversee the lineout of crew working alongside the Assistant Supervisor and Controller.
Conduct the crew lineout share a safety briefing and communicate all hazards.
Ensure daily reports and workplace exams are completed accurately and on time.
Manage personnel issues including payroll performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
Attend required meetings and report shift progress and issues to the General Foreman.
Oversee the production fleet haul fleet support fleet and haul road improvements to maximize operational efficiency.
Conduct frequent checks on pits dumps roads and active projects to ensure everything is progressing according to plan.
Be present in the field to monitor the success of the operation.
Discuss site improvements every three hours with the Assistant Supervisor identifying opportunities for coaching and operational enhancements.
Perform ride-alongs with operators or audit operators at least once per hitch to ensure competency and adherence to safety standards.
Work with the Assistant Supervisor to identify training needs and ensure that crew members follow the progression plan.
Collaborate with the Superintendent General Foreman Mine Engineers and Mine Services to ensure both short-term and long-term operational goals are met.
Ensure that each shift is adequately staffed and plan overtime as required.
Step in to fill the role of the General Foreman when necessary and all other duties as reasonably required.
Qualifications :
- Minimum 710 years open pit mining experience (depending on company size and complexity)
- 35 years in a supervisory or senior leadership role (e.g. General Foreman Superintendent or Senior Supervisor)
- Proven background in load and haul operations managing large fleets (e.g. hydraulic shovels excavators haul trucks)
- Experience with production planning dispatch systems and short interval control (SIC)
- Knowledge of drill and blast interface and coordination with other mines
