South County Fire in Everett WA is currently recruiting for a Lead Mental Health Professional.

Summary:

The Lead Mental Health Professional (Lead MHP) provides clinical leadership supervision and oversight for South County Fires Community-Based Crisis Team (CBCT). This position ensures all CBCT operations comply with RCW 71.05.020 WAC and Behavioral Health Agency (BHA) standards. The Lead MHP is responsible for clinical quality assurance staff supervision training and coordination with community partners to ensure safe effective and person-centered crisis services. This position is grant-based funded for 36 months with funding up for renewal after 36 months.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct clinical supervision to MHPs Certified Peer Counselors and Masters-level Crisis Responders.

Essential Job Functions

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical oversight and supervision to Mental Health Professionals (MHPs) and Certified Peer Counselors (CPCs).
  • Review and approve crisis assessments safety plans and clinical documentation for compliance with RCW WAC and BHA standards.
  • Serve as the primary clinical liaison between South County Fire Evergreen Recovery Centers (BHA of record) and North Sound BH-ASO.
  • Coordinate with fire/EMS law enforcement and community partners to ensure timely 988 and 911 response integration.
  • Lead case consultations debriefings and clinical team meetings.
  • Develop and update protocols training materials and standard operating guidelines related to crisis response.
  • Participate in hiring training and performance evaluation of crisis team staff.
  • Oversee quality improvement processes including chart audits data reporting and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain readiness to provide field support or consultation during high-acuity events.
  • Represent the CBCT program in regional meetings BH-ASO workgroups and community collaboratives.
  • Collaborate closely with Evergreen Recovery Centers for BHA compliance and quality assurance.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Qualifications:

Knowledge Of:

  • Must meet the statutory definition of a Mental Health Professional (MHP) as defined in RCW 71.05.020(41). Examples include: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Psychiatric Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Clinical Psychologist.
  • Advanced knowledge of behavioral health diagnosis risk assessment and treatment planning.
  • Expertise in trauma-informed care harm reduction and crisis stabilization models.
  • Competence with EHR systems and secure data management per HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

Skills and Ability To:
  • Train coach and support staff in the field under stressful conditions.
  • Work in collaboration and communication skills with multidisciplinary partners.

Additional Requirements

Education and Experience:
Masters degree or higher in social work psychology counseling psychiatric nursing or another behavioral-health discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three (3) years providing direct clinical services to individuals with behavioral health conditions including at least one (1) year of crisis intervention or emergency behavioral health experience and at least one (1) year of clinical supervision experience over licensed or credentialed staff or completion of an approved clinical supervision training program.


Special Requirements:

  • Must maintain a valid Washington State Drivers License with acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass a formal criminal background check for both Lynnwood Police Department and South County Fire.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in mobile crisis Co-Responder or community paramedicine programs.
  • Familiarity with WAC 182-140 endorsement standards and BH-ASO contractual requirements.
  • Certification as a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Trainer or experience leading multidisciplinary training.
  • Bilingual / bicultural competence relevant to the South Snohomish County community.

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to stand walk use hands to manipulate handle or operate objects controls or tools as listed above reach with hands and arms climb balance stoop kneel or crouch. Must be able to assist patients and lift when necessary utilizing lift assistance activities require the ability to sit for long periods of time and move throughout the office or field; ability to perform manipulative skills required for word processing; ability to lift carry and maneuver various educational supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds; ability to read computer screen various documents and forms; hearing and speech abilities to effectively communicate and perform duties.


Working Conditions:
Work takes place in collaboration with Fire/EMS Law Enforcement and Behavioral Health partners in a variety of environments including office settings classrooms meetings public events and field-based locations such as homes streets and shelters. Field work may occur outdoors and in inclement weather. Staff may respond in the field as needed to support complex incidents including during crisis situations. The role includes a mix of office field and on-call responsibilities with flexible and irregular hours to ensure 24/7 coverage. CBCT employees participate in a rotating schedule that includes weekends evenings nights and holidays. Occasional travel may be required including long-distance trips using an agency vehicle and may involve visiting challenging or unstable living situations with potential exposure to unpredictable or volatile environments where de-escalation skills are essential. All staff are expected to adhere to team safety protocols including scene assessment use of radios and backup procedures. Oversight during off-hours and occasional field deployment for support or backup may also be required.

This position meets the definition of Mental Health Professional under RCW 71.05.020(41) and is responsible for ensuring team operations comply with WAC and WAC . All clinical supervision documentation and program activities shall align with Behavioral Health Agency (BHA) policies and Health Care Authority requirements.
