The Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI) at Stellenbosch University (SU) is dedicated to pioneering research and innovation in epidemic response within Africa.
CERIs mission is to lead Africa in effectively managing its epidemics and pandemics through pathogen genomic surveillance biomedical discovery and advancements in disease treatment diagnosis and prevention.
At CERI researchers are empowered to make significant contributions to public health through collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches leveraging state-of-the-art facilities and
partnerships to address critical health challenges facing the continent.
Duties/Pligte
Managing daily LabWare LIMS-associated laboratory operations e.g. sample management client projects and equipment reagent inventory document control IT support and logistics.
Configurating LIMS according to laboratory requirements.
Providing LIMS training for laboratory staff.
Troubleshooting LIMS issues.
Performing validation / verification of data entry into LIMS.
Drawing reports (turnaround inventory equipment etc.) to ensure compliance with the laboratory management system requirements.
Managing testing and implementation of LabWare LIMS updates.
Identifying opportunities for LIMS improvements.
Developing and implementing SOPs to optimise workflows and quality processes.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
A minimum relevant NQF level 7 qualification in Biological Science or Information Technology.
At least five years technical experience working with LabWare Laboratory Information Management Systems or similar LIMS.
Proven experience in laboratory information management operations.
LIMS Administration Skills
LIMS Basic Programming Skills
Crystal Reports certification or equivalent
Familiarity with programming languages (e.g. SQL Crystal syntax and Basic syntax).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint).
Effective communication skills
Must be capable of working under limited supervision able to evaluate operating conditions and exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated willing to learn.
