Are you an experienced laboratory professional looking for a challenging and rewarding leadership role in a dynamic environment A renowned international company is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Laboratory Manager to lead its wholly-owned Oil Laboratories - PNG division based in Lae.
This senior management role is a unique opportunity to take full operational responsibility for a used oil laboratory bottling and blending plant and the QC for a Fuel Extender plant. We are looking for a leader who can drive efficiency ensure technical excellence and develop new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership: Assume overall responsibility for the safe efficient and high-quality operation of the laboratory.
Quality & Compliance: Maintain and manage the laboratorys rigorous ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 certifications ensuring all procedures are followed.
Team Development: Lead mentor and develop the laboratory staff to work at their full potential including annual performance reviews and improvement plans.
Technical Excellence: Ensure the accuracy precision and impartiality of all used oil diagnostics and analyses issued by the laboratory.
Asset Management: Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program for all laboratory instruments to ensure they remain certified and fit for purpose.
Commercial Acumen: Actively develop new business opportunities for the laboratorys services maintain productive client relations and provide technical support to sales staff and clients.
Financial Management: Prepare and operate within the annual laboratory budget.
The Expatriate Package:
This is a salaried position based on a 5 ½ day working week and is offered with a comprehensive expatriate package including:
Accommodation: Accommodation support and reasonable support with household utilities.
Transport: A company vehicle will be provided.
Medical: Full medical insurance is included in the employment package.
Flights: Annual return airfares to your point of hire.
Leave: 4 weeks of annual leave and up to 9 days of paid sick leave per year

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
To be successful in this role you must possess:
Education: A Bachelors degree or Diploma in Engineering Chemistry or Material Science.
Industry Experience: A minimum of 3 years experience in the lubrication industry or allied industries. (Note: The internal role description specifies 5 years ).
Laboratory Experience: Demonstrated experience in a senior role within an operating laboratory.
Technical Skills:
- An excellent knowledge of used oil analysis and diagnostics.
- A good understanding of machine operation.
- A good understanding of water chemistry and microbiology.
General Skills:
- Excellent computer skills with high-level proficiency in Excel Word and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in both written and verbal English
