As the Director Integrity & Compliance supporting the Latin America (LATAM) region you will be trusted to establish and maintain a well-trained and competent regional compliance organization driving implementation of the global compliance program within the Region including establishing embedding and enforcing elements of the program. The regional compliance officer will partner with the Regional Legal Head and business leaders to provide strategic advice and guidance on managing risk in the Region

Under the overall leadership of the Regional Legal Head and in close coordination with the Division Integrity & Compliance Head you will enable and drive ethical business conduct through the effective implementation of the Integrity and Compliance program at the regional level. Specifically the Regional Compliance Officer will be required to:

  • Facilitate the oversight of the implementation and effectiveness of the divisional compliance program.

  • Chair a cross-functional regional compliance committee to drive the compliance and oversee risk management within the scope of the integrity & compliance program.

  • Work with other regional management to perpetuate a tone at the top that reflects the Companys commitment to ethical and legal business conduct.

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with global/regional/local business and cross-divisional peers

  • Operationally and functionally lead a regional compliance team.

  • Liaison with Division Region and Local management in the assessment of compliance coverage skill and resource needs

Establish compliance:

  • Manage coordination with Division and cross-divisional peers to establish maintain and interpret at the Regional level Group and Divisional policies and procedures to promote ethical professional practices and our Code of Conduct.

  • Drive the establishment and maintenance of local procedures for relevant policies at the Regional and Country levels within the region including monitoring framework for the Region.

  • Stay abreast of the evolving industry landscape including agency regulations and guidance along with industry leading practices.

  • Engage with the Division compliance resources (e.g. Policy and Monitoring Leads) to advise and consult on emerging risk areas areas of policy or procedural gaps or ambiguity or areas of increased enforcement attention

Embed compliance:

  • Develop implement and coordinate a regional training strategy to educate associates in the Region on ethical professional practices and compliance policies (e.g. Code of Conduct Anti-Bribery and the Lens) and associated areas of risk that is cascaded to the countries in the Region. Develop and manage guidance and tools to support the business in embedding compliance into operations including leadership performance management and decision-making

  • Actively involve region / country leadership to leverage key compliance messages and to maintain high level of awareness (Tone from the Top)

  • Continually provide advice and guidance to the region / country management on compliance related topics challenges and major initiatives

Enforce compliance:

  • Work with the Divisional Compliance Function to develop and operationalize an effective monitoring program in the region to assess the effectiveness of the Compliance program and identify areas for improvement.

  • Coordinate the implementation of controls that support the systematic management of compliance risks

  • Analyze BPO cases internal audits and external landscape with a view to identifying trends and priorities for the further development of the compliance program working with Region Legal and Compliance Head.

  • Regularly update region / country leadership and Divisional Compliance Function on the status of the compliance program

WHAT YOULL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school 18 yrs; Assoc.14 yrs; M.S.7 yrs; PhD6 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read write understand and communicate in English

  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience

  • 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

  • Bilingual preferred - Spanish/English

  • Prior experience in Legal Finance or General Business role in professional firm or major regulated industry preferably in healthcare

  • Prior experience in Compliance or related role with a pharmaceutical or medical device organization strongly preferred
