As a champion of family-centered care we enable access to childrens hospitals by providing families with accommodation meals and wellness programs that support their emotional and physical well-being during one of lifes most difficult times.

Since opening our first 13-bedroom House in Vancouver in 1983 Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon has continued to grow to meet the rising need for 2014 we opened a new 73-bedroom House on the grounds of BC Childrens Hospital along with a 2000 sq. ft. Ronald McDonald Family Room inside Surrey Memorial 2025 we expanded once again opening a new Family Room at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops bringing comfort care and a place to rest to families in the BC Interior.

Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon is planning for even greater impact. With exciting expansion plans underway we aim to double our capacity and impact across BC and the Yukon over the next five years ensuring even more families can stay close when it matters most.

About the Position

TheFacility Operations Technicianwill work under the direction of the OperationsSupervisor and in cooperation with our Family Services teamto ensure smooth operation of theRMHfacilities.The hours for the role require flexibility between core operating hours.The schedule isSaturday-Mondayandthe incumbent willbe responsible forpreventative maintenance and other ongoing activitiesto keep the House running inoptimalcondition for our guest families.

This is a part-time position that will be scheduled Fridays Saturdays and Sundays.


Keyresponsibilities include:

  • Outdoor and indoor facility maintenance and groundskeeping;
  • Driving to pick-up or drop off supplies ormaterials;
  • Receiving and unloadingdeliveries;
  • Managinginventory;
  • Managing waste and recycling
  • Other duties as.

Job Specific Competencies and Skills

  • Alignment with the mission and values ofRonald McDonald House BC and Yukon.
  • Ability to represent the House with a polishedpositiveand professional demeanor and attitude at alltimes.
  • A commitment to working cooperatively in a team environment with staff volunteers familiesdonorsand the public.
  • Resourceful and ability to think creatively withproactiveapproach to problem solving.
  • Physical ability to perform the above duties and lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
  • Have manual dexterity to manipulate small objects and handle tools.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Drivers License is.

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in FacilitiesOperationsor another relevant field
  • 2 years experience in Facilities Support Operations Supportor similar position.
