Main Street Project (MSP) is a community health Centre with a mandate to address the social determinants of health which give rise to issues of addiction physical and mental health issues and homelessness. MSP uses housing-first and harm reduction principles in the provision of a safe respectful and accessible place for individuals who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the community. Since 1972 MSP has been providing a range of services to Winnipegs most marginalized residents including emergency shelter and nutrition services drug and alcohol withdrawal management services health advocacy and support case management services housing support services food bank services and a mobile community outreach program.

POSITION SUMMARY
Main Street Projects Facilities Department is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Main Street Project Facilities. This includes repair work working with external service providers/contractors developing and participating in preventative maintenance plans and assisting with other projects including community clean up and beautification initiatives.
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator The Facilities Lead will help coordinate facilities requests (maintenance and supplies) and assign and support staff or arrange to be addressed through external collaboration with the Director of Operations and Facilities Coordinator this role will participate on process and policy development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Facilities Coordinator with Employee Performance Management providing updates to Coordinator on staff performance in a timely manner
- Assisting in the onboarding of new facilities employees including site orientations
- Work with Facilities Coordinator to receive evaluate prioritize and assign maintenance requests to Facilities team members including contacting external contractors and making arrangements for repairs should it be required.
- Liaise with external contractors and arrange work to be done including meeting representatives on site and that proper safety precautions are in place prior to work being undertaken. This will include coordination internally with MSP staff.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Coordinator to develop preventative maintenance plans and conduct monthly site evaluations to ensure plans are being carried out and unreported maintenance concerns are addressed.
- Assist the Facilities Team in researching and developing new relationships with external service providers as required
- Receive process and facilitate the delivery of supply orders (janitorial medical and disposables) to Main Street Project programs and facilities on a weekly basis.
- Place supply orders with identified vendors and conduct periodic evaluations of quoted rates to ensure best use of organizational funds
- Manage supply inventory levels including reporting and inventory counts to ensure accuracy in reporting and use.
- Collaborate with Facilities Coordinator Director of Operations and other MSP Leadership on policy development implementation and procedure adherence
- Communicate organizational updates to Facilities staff on a regular basis answer queries and provide information as needed
- Monitor ongoing work identify problems and make recommendations for continuous improvements of procedures and policies
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings providing relevant information
- Ensure employees follow safe work practices and MSP standard operating policies and procedures
- Support Facilities Coordinator and Director of Operations in team debrief following incidents as per operational policies and procedures
- Attend and plan mandatory Staff meetings workshops and training sessions relevant to those in the Facilities department
- Reports any requested stats in a timely and accurate manner
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years experience in supply management or repair and maintenance or similarly focused position
- Relevant post-secondary education is considered an asset.
- Experience in a management or administrative role is considered an asset
- Proficient computer literacy
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from various backgrounds and disciplines.
- Knowledge of addictions mental health and co-occurring disorder best practices
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to understand and comply with PHIA regulations
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and excellent listening skills
- Ability to communicate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Subscribe to the philosophy of cooperation and continuity across programs and of consideration and respect for participants
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and UNDRIP
- Knowledge of the effects of poverty and the determinants of health
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet program needs
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Clear Vulnerable Sector Search and Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check required. The candidate/employee is responsible for any service charges incurred.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License
