About the Opportunity
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation supporting young people aged 12-25 years with their mental & general health care needs. At headspacewe provideyoung people with the opportunity to seek help early by bringing local health services under the one roof making it easier for young people and their families to find the information they need.
On a day to day basis youwill:
- Deliver quality evidence-based recovery focused mental health services includingassessments individualised person-centered planning and coordination and the delivery of relevant therapeutic interventions.
- Designtreatment plans and relevant interventionsto assist the young person to drive their own recovery plan.
- Coordinate supportswith service providers including medical professionals Government Departments and services non-government organisations and schools.
- Provide supervision support guidance and mentoringof students and provisionally registered psychologists.
- Identify and implement community based activities that willsupport the social and emotional well beingof the individual on their recovery journey
- Offer education and guidanceon clinical matters.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology Social Work Nursing Occupational Therapy or other allied health discipline recognised by the tertiary mental health services sector.
- Current or provisional registration with the appropriate professional body (e.g. AHPRA AASW OTA) if applicable.
- Demonstrated experience in providing mental health care to young people (and their families/carers) including care coordination mental health assessments risk assessments and crisis intervention and brief interventions.
- Knowledge of recovery focused and family inclusive practice as well as understanding the needs of young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Have a basic understanding and/or knowledge of the concept and impact of mental health issues in the community.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as a team and impart knowledge in clinical and learning environments.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage competing demands.
- Able to demonstrate a flexible approach to service delivery.
- High-level computer literacy including report writing and electronic client management systems.
Desirable:
- A personal lived experience of a mental health issue.
- Understanding of the Australian health care system including primary health care the mental health service system and related professional networks.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation policies and strategic directions in youth mental health.
- Familiarity with local youth and health sectors.
- Experience in planning delivering and evaluating group-based interventions for young people and their families.
- Current valid Australian drivers licence.
