POSITION TITLE:1.0 FTE Long-Term Substitute Middle School Guided Learning Intervention Teacher (Study Skills & Executive Functioning)
Reports to: Director of Student Services & Building Principal
Terms of Employment:To cover an immediate leave of absence through approximately January 9 2026 unless circumstances dictate a change.
Position will be part-time Guided Learning and part-time substitute work as needed within the building.
$175 per diem for days worked. Non-benefits eligible at-will position.
Job Goal:
To deliver a specialized Tier 3 academic intervention program focused on developing essential Executive Functioning (EF) skills in general education students. The goal is to provide highly individualized and small-group instruction that empowers students to achieve academic independence develop metacognitive awareness and successfully apply study skills across all content areas.
Essential Responsibilitites:
- Maintain continuous and proactive communication regarding student progress with all relevant partners including students families content teachers counselors social workers and administration.
- Actively participate in the Student Support Team (SST) referral process providing observational notes progress updates response-to-intervention data and informal academic screeners.
- Collaborate with the SST to provide data and input for recommendations regarding the Special Education referral process.
- Attend Team Meetings as available and consult regularly with content teachers to ensure alignment between EF instruction and classroom expectations.
Note on Grade-Level Skill Focus: The intervention program is designed around grade-level specific EF domains:
- 6th Grade: Focus on Preparedness (organization materials management homework routines).
- 7th Grade: Focus on Self-Management (following directions remaining on task minimizing distractions).
- 8th Grade: Focus on Independence (Self-Advocacy long-term assignment tracking and implementing feedback).
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn specific curriculum resources such as the SMARTS Executive Function Curriculum.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators support staff and parents/guardians.
- Experience and commitment to working in a racially and culturally diverse teaching and learning community.
