CIBC Capital Markets provides corporate government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital and grow and invest actively throughout North America Latin America and key financial centres around the world. Our mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products to Canada and the rest of the world and also bring the world to Canada.

CIBC Capital Markets Global Investment Banking provides equity and debt underwriting as well as corporate finance advisory services to corporations. CIBCs Investment Banking group of professionals are dedicated specifically to advising clients on mergers acquisitions joint ventures hostile takeovers buyouts takeover defense and restructurings. There is an extensive amount of interaction with other groups within the firm in order to provide clients with customized financing and advisory solutions.

The role of an Associate within CIBCs Investment Banking group is challenging and fast-paced. It requires dedication a passion for excellence and an exceptional work ethic.

Based in Montreal the primary roles and responsibilities for this Associate position include leading and generating corporate finance analytics preparing client deliverables developing complex financial models mentoring and directing junior professionals and generally supporting senior professionals in business development and transaction execution activities.

How youll succeed

• Developing Client Proposals- Assist in developing proposals to clients and potential clients for equity and debt placements mergers asset or company divestitures or acquisitions and other financial products and advisory services.
• Research- Conduct industry research and analysis to assist in the identification and/or analysis of investment banking business opportunities.
• Financial Models- Develop and audit sophisticated financial models. Prepare industry and financial analysis to determine client recommendations.
• Due Diligence- Lead industry comparable value and transaction precedent analyses and assist in company due diligence investigations.
• Prospectus Preparation- Prepare offering memoranda and marketing materials and assist with prospectus drafting.
• Mentor- Train and direct junior professionals.

Who you are

• You have an undergraduate or graduate degree alongside professional corporate finance investment banking M&A advisory and/or private equity work experience; CFA and/or CPA designations optional but beneficial.
• You act like an owner. You thrive when youre empowered to take initiative go above and beyond and deliver dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming high levels of responsibility within short time frames. Ability to work well under pressure with multiple or competing deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. Must be able to accept flexibility in required personal time commitments to complete work assignments. Often required to work beyond normal business hours.
• Youre digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and analytical abilities including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices. Knowledge of accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations. Strong technical skills as it relates to Microsoft Office applications (Excel Word PowerPoint) industry technology (Bloomberg FactSet) and applicable give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful -developed written and verbal communication skills sufficient to provide detailed explanation and interpretation of factual and conceptual information and ideas related to complex technical and conceptual issues.
