POSITION: School Guidance Counselor
REQUIREMENTS: NYS Certification
Bachelors degree
Masters degree preferred.
Demonstrate leadership qualities and personal Characteristics necessary for working effectively with students teachers and parents.
Have at least two years of successful experience as a teacher administrator or supervisor.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with students parents colleagues and community members.

SALARY: Bachelor $53308.70 Master $58841.00
Benefits the 1st of the month following 30 days.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enhance inter-relationships between families schools and the community.
In conflict and disciplinary situations perform ongoing consultation with teachers/community professionals to address disciplinary situations for students and their families.
Educate all concerned parties about the ongoing issues and proposed strategies.
Work with individual classes on a scheduled basis.
Provide ongoing training to involve students and parents including life skills training which may include social skills development and conflict mediation/resolution.
Perform preventative interventions including health promotions violence prevention and other training.
Facilitate students transition to and connection to the middle School.
Refer students and their families to community resources when appropriate.
Perform home visits during School hours & after School (please refer to position hours) as necessary to those students and families in need. The employee may be accompanied by additional RCA Staff if necessary. If the employee uses their vehicle for business purposes they must submit mileage for reimbursement at the IRS rate.
Maintain documentation to ensure plans have been met including detailing plans/events student and parental training outcome measures and referrals.
Participate in other related activities when required and approved by the Building Leader.
Attend all required meetings.
Attend requested professional developments.
Serve on ONE Committee per year.
Contribute to the monthly newsletter sent home to parents.
Convene meetings and make calls to parents as necessary.
Training class for parents once per quarter
