The Daniels College of Business seeks a globally experienced faculty member to lead and teach in the area of global leadership and geopolitical strategy with a specialized focus on the complex intersections of government business and civil society across the developing world. This role emphasizes both thought leadership and real-world application integrating geopolitical insight into business education and preparing leaders to operate effectively and ethically in a global context.

We are looking for a practitioner with strong experience in global leadership education who can bring practical insight and real-world knowledge to the classroom. The ideal candidate will have: teaching experience ability to design global travel courses involvement in the global business community (e.g. strong network of global leaders and organizing international experiential learning programs) interest in working closely with students to support their ideas global ventures and professional growth a collaborative approach to work across programs and units and strong communication skills.

The Assistant Professor will have responsibility for teaching and service. The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach courses during the academic year which may include fall winter spring and/or summer quarters. Teaching responsibilities include Executive MBA courses using traditional hybrid and online delivery methods. Teaching responsibilities may involve day night and weekend classes. The Universitys academic calendars are posted on the registrars website. The Assistant Professor is expected to participate in the academic life of the Department of Marketing Executive MBA program and the Daniels College of Business.

Essential Functions

Teaching: The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach the equivalent of nine 4-credit courses throughout the academic year which may include fall winter spring and summer quarters. DU follows the quarter system with three 10-week long academic terms in fall (early September-late November) winter (January-mid March) and spring (late March-first week of June) and a 9-week long summer quarter (mid-June till mid-August). A primary function of the Assistant Professor is to teach in the EMBA courses.

Service: The Assistant Professor will be expected to participate in the academic life of the Department of Marketing MBA programs and the Daniels College of Business. This includes but it is not limited to attendance at faculty meetings and participation in assurance of learning and curriculum development. Significant involvement with students is expected of all faculty members. A primary function of the Professor of Global Leadership is to travel with students on international educational experiences.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated potential for strong performance in service as defined under Essential Functions.
  • Expertise achievements and reputations developed over a sustained period of time that qualify them to be distinguished professionals in global leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with students with different backgrounds or evidence of a commitment to incorporate inclusive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage different student populations.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral).

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a business discipline or Comparative Politics International Relations or Global Studies with 10 or more years of industry experience in the geopolitical dynamics of the global landscape.
  • Proven ability to connect global macro trends with practical leadership and business implications.
  • Teaching experience in executive courses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading global travel courses.
  • Field and consulting experience in emerging markets.
  • Certifications in intercultural and global leadership tools (e.g. Intercultural Development Inventory Insights Discovery Global Mindset Inventory etc.).
  • Track record of partnering with major corporations and organizations on marketing projects or global leadership development.
  • Experience designing and teaching global integrations in Africa Latin America Asia and the Middle East.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives.
  • Experience teaching at an AACSB accredited institution with excellent teaching evaluations.
  • Terminal degree (DBA Ph.D.) in global leadership or a closely related field from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule
While the Universitys administrative offices are open Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught service commitments and research agendas. The Universitys academic calendars are posted on the registrars website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $80000- $90000
