Job Summary

Classification Title:	Assistant Child Development Teacher
Job Description:	UF Early Childhood Collaboratory is looking for Assistant Child Development Teachers. These positions are not assigned to a particular age group or classroom and are placed based on the needs of the center. Assistant Teachers may also assist with various tasks around the center. If you have a federal work-study award on your Financial Aid Summary or are eligible to receive a federal-work study award please include a copy of your award information. Contact a financial aid adviser to find out if you are eligible to have a federal work-study award added to your aid summary. Schedule availability of 20 hours per week is preferred. UF ECC hours of operation are 7:30AM to 5:30PM Monday to Friday. Shift times are based on the needs of the center. Responsibilities include: Maintaining a safe healthy and hygienic environment for all children (children ages infant to 5 years). Maintaining a learning environment that is supportive of childrens growth development and learning through age and developmentally appropriate lessons and activities. Assisting teachers with implementing weekly lesson plans that address social emotional physical and cognitive areas and demonstrate respect in language culture and learning styles. Supervising safety and educational learning while on field trips around UF campus and the Gainesville community. Communicating and supporting parents to ensure the needs of children and families are met. Demonstration of professional work habits including working assigned hours adherence to leave policies maintaining confidentiality of child and family information appropriate communication with colleagues and supervisors and support of special activities at UF ECC Child Development and Research Center. It is recommended that child care personnel are current with all immunizations routinely recommended for adults by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Commitment to following all COVID-19 policies and procedures ensuring the health and safety of staff families and children. Assistant teachers must be physically able to perform all duties related to the care and teaching of young children with reasonable accommodation including repeated bending kneeling sitting on the floor lifting children up to 40 lbs. and frequent hand washing. COVID guidelines must be followed at all times.
Advertised Salary:	$14.00 to $15.00 per hour based on credential and experience.
Minimum Requirements:	This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis up to 20 hours per week. Child Care Background Screening as required by DCF. Schedule availability of 20 hours per week is preferred. UF ECC hours of operation are 7:30AM to 5:30PM Monday to Friday. Shift times are based on the needs of the center.
Preferred Qualifications:	1 year of childcare experience. Successful completion of 40 hours Child Care Training and exams required by the Department of Children and Families Services (DCF) Infant/Toddler CPR Training. Experience in a childcare facility or public-school setting. Federal work-study award on your Financial Aid Summary or eligible to receive a federal-work study award.
