About the Role:
The Manager Geodiversity Strategic Content Acquisition (SCA) leads a team of Content Acquisition Specialists focused on driving strategic commissioning activities including special issues collections article commissioning and other innovative approaches for Wiley journals. A core aspect of the role is to drive content growth from key markets working closely with colleagues across Wiley to build presence deepen strategic relationships and accelerate content growth. Through this the role contributes directly to increasing the geographic diversity of Wileys content.
As part of the broader SCA leadership group the Manager oversees pipeline development and execution against strategic goals tied to publishing performance.
What Youll Do
Team Leadership
Lead coach and support a small team of Content Acquisition Specialists.
Foster a collaborative data-informed and stakeholder-focused culture.
Encourage proactive engagement regional intelligence sharing and strategic outreach.
Use influence across the wider SCA team drive support for strategic goals
Regional Growth & Strategic Focus
Develop and drive a strong pipeline of special issue and curated content ideas from key markets. Source assess and develop special issue and collection ideas through partnerships with researchers institutions and editorial networks.
To explore content growth and acquisition beyond special issues and collections designing testing and executing innovative approaches for (regional) growth.
Use data and market insights to identify high-potential institutions research communities and disciplines. Work with other SCA managers and oversee the strategic direction of content commissioning from key markets
Qualify leads and collaborate with CDS and other SCA team to ensure smooth handover for delivery article management and operational follow-through. Track lead conversion and engagement progress.
Strengthen Wileys editorial presence and visibility through targeted initiatives and content partnerships in priority regions leveraging the wider SCA for regional engagement.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate with colleagues across Editor Experience Publishing Development Publishing Partnerships Sales Regional Marketing and Global Markets & Partnerships(GMP)to:
Align on and track objectives for regional growth
accelerate content growth in key markets
align with journal and portfolio strategies as well as broader business and regional goals
support journal performance and Wiley transitional agreements.
Share regional insights to inform Wileys content strategies and engagement planning.
Collaborate with CDS and other SCA leads to ensure:
efficient handover where execution is managed in other teams.
strong communication and well-defined processes for execution managed in the Geodiversity team
Work closely with the Senior Manager of Editor Experience to:
define an editorial recruitment process that aligns with Editor Experience strategy and the strategic objectives for geodiversity
agree regional and track objectives for editorial recruitment
identify and communicate resources to support regional objectives
develop targeted engagement activities to support regional candidate development
assign team members to support Editor Experience as needed
Engagement with Local Research Communities
Build and nurture strategic relationships with researchers institutions editors and societies in key markets.
Identify and cultivate Guest Editors and authors to generate high-quality special issue proposals
Leverage engagement and relationships to explore growth in regional publishing output beyond special issues and collections.
Support outreach events and initiatives that strengthen Wileys presence and credibility in local research ecosystems.
Represent regional perspectives in cross-functional discussions and strategic initiatives.
What Were Looking For
Experience:
Demonstrated experience in scholarly publishing commissioning editorial development content partnerships or journal strategy.
Experience working with regional research communities or institutional stakeholders is a plus.
Leadership
Experience supervising or mentoring team members (even small teams).
Ability to motivate guide and manage performance.
Ability to influence and coordinate beyond formal reporting lines
