About the Client:
A global defence and engineering organisation delivering secure scalable ICT infrastructure to support simulation and operational systems. This role supports the Fleet Battle Lab System contributing to mission-critical environments and cyber-resilient platforms.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to manage and maintain Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems support virtualisation environments and ensure network stability and security. Youll work across a broad tech stack including Cisco Fortinet VMware and Veeam supporting simulation integration and Defence-grade infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer Windows Server 2022 and RHEL 8 systems.
- Manage Active Directory Group Policy DNS DHCP and system hardening.
- Configure and support Hyper-V and VMware environments.
- Maintain Veeam Backup & Replication and disaster recovery planning.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Cisco switches routers and FortiGate firewalls.
- Automate tasks using PowerShell and Bash scripting.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support and collaborate with vendors and stakeholders.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in systems administration.
- Strong background in Windows and/or Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking FortiGate firewalls and virtualisation platforms.
- Solid understanding of AD DNS DHCP and Group Policy.
- Exposure to cybersecurity practices and Defence ICT standards.
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
- NV1 Security Clearance (mandatory).
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Microsoft Red Hat VMware Cisco Fortinet Veeam CompTIA) highly regarded.
