Job Summary

Position Summary

The Project Director provides executive-level leadership over Expanses large and complex projects exceeding $750000 regardless of geography. This role ensures the safe profitable and high-quality execution of projects by managing project engineering procurement contract administration and customer relationships. The Project Director serves as the key interface between field operations engineering and clientsdriving performance standardization and accountability across all large projects.

The Project Director is expected to have strong background in Electrical Project execution project controls project related software such as Microsoft Project P6 and good Excel experience. The successful candidate is expected to have a hands-on attitude support project engineers by doing their tasks when required an ability to deep dive in the project details project controls and documentation and an excellent understanding of project cost monitoring project communications and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Oversight

  • Directly manage all projects over $750K in total value across all divisions and regions.
    Strictly follow and enforce the Project Management and Controls System (PMCS) adopted by Expanse to manage all projects.
  • Supervise and mentor Project Engineers and Project Managers assigned to large projects.
    Establish and enforce consistent project management standards reporting templates and controls across all major jobs.
    Partner with regional General Managers and Construction Managers to ensure project alignment with Expanse Execution Model and company goals.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead preconstruction planning and project kickoff meetings with estimating operations and safety.
    Oversee and participate in the development and maintenance of detailed project schedules budgets and resource plans.
    Ensure proactive coordination with field leadership on manpower loading materials and equipment.
  • Participate in the development of work packs which breakdown the project scope into measurable and quality controlled mini-scopes. Actively monitor productivity of work pack execution.
    Monitor and drive adherence to Expanses standards for quality productivity and safety performance.

Financial Management

  • Maintain full P&L responsibility for assigned projects ensuring revenue recognition aligns with cost-percent-complete methodology.
    Review and approve monthly cost reports job forecasts and earned value analyses.
    Ensure all purchase orders credit card spend and other costs are tracked accurately and timely in accordance with Accounting guidelines.
    Oversee change order management and contract adjustments to maximize profitability.
    Participate in cash flow planning billing approvals and A/R oversight for major projects.

Procurement & Contracts

  • Supervise material and equipment procurement ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project needs.
    Negotiate vendor and subcontractor terms and manage supplier relationships for large projects.
    Review and manage prime contract terms ensuring compliance and mitigation of contractual risk.
    Support development of standardized procurement practices and vendor evaluation metrics.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as primary client point of contact for large projects ensuring clear and timely communication on progress issues and opportunities.
    Develop long-term customer relationships based on performance trust and collaboration.
    Support business development with technical input during project pursuits and bid reviews.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Identify and manage project risks including safety schedule quality and contractual exposure.
    Ensure projects comply with Expanses corporate policies insurance requirements and regulatory standards.
    Lead lessons-learned and close-out reviews for continuous improvement across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Construction Management or related field (preferred).
    10 years of progressively responsible experience in industrial electrical construction (EPC midstream or energy infrastructure preferred).
    Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects over $1M in value.
    Strong financial and contractual acumen including understanding of cost-percent-complete accounting.
    Exceptional communication and leadership skills with ability to manage remote teams across geographies.
    Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project Procore Viewpoint etc.) and ERP systems.
