Summary Statement

The ERP System Specialist primary function is to the Background Check Center customer service and the processing of background checks through the BCC. The incumbent will carry out a variety of activities including but not limited to helping new providers obtain BCC access troubleshoot state approved BCC users critical issues provide training answer correspondence and telephone inquiries. Customer service is paramount in this position due to the continuous influx of calls and emails from the agencies that DHCQ serves. The incumbent also coordinates with managers technical staff and contracted staff to trouble shoot and correct system errors. This position will participate in the configuration testing and implementation of the NEW BCC. May create spreadsheets write proposals procedural manuals and routine reports. Serving as a liaison between the Division Information Resources Management (IRM) and the software provider at all levels.

  • Coordinates with managers technical staff and contracted staff to troubleshoot and correct system errors and schedule system development enhancement testing and implementation; initiates program maintenance requests and provides data requirements to technical staff throughout the design and programming phases of a project.
  • Trains staff/system users in various systems and enhancements/modifications to the system and programs; certifies competency of those trained and determines those aspects of the information system that will be accessible to staff/customers.
  • Coordinates oversees and participates in the testing of new/modified computer program enhancements by creating test data analyzing the systems action and determining critical system performance to ensure applications meet user needs.
  • Recommends and maintains information system education and training programs to include guidelines manuals and similar documentation.
  • Provides liaison between technical staff contractors vendors and agency staff and informs users regarding system operations problems changes corrections enhancements and new features.
  • May supervise technical support staff.
  • Assists in maintaining security for the information system by assigning user security codes restrictions and accessibility of information to authorized users.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for ERP Systems Specialist
Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in information system functional support which includes planning for informational needs to initiate system changes; developing user operational and program documentation; coordinating overseeing and participating in the testing of new/modified computer program enhancements by creating test data analyzing the systems actions and determining critical system performance to ensure applications meet user needs.
  2. Knowledge of presenting training or education courses.
  3. Knowledge of database management concepts and systems development lifecycle methodology.
  4. Knowledge of conducting information systems needs and requirements analysis.

Additional Posting Information

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.

Conditions of Hire

As a condition of hire you must possess a valid drivers license (not suspended revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).

All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment in accordance with Title 29 Chapter 59 and Title 19 Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
