This role will be based in Mountain View CA. At LinkedIn our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture connection clarity and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days as determined by the business needs of the team.

Our mission is to make this security infrastructure intuitive performant and secure. We build highly reliable and scalable services and developer-friendly infrastructure that enable engineering teams across the company to create and integrate secure features and proactively protect our members data. We are responsible for securing all microservices nodes and large scale data systems in Linkedins ecosystem.

We are looking for a motivated software engineer to join the PKI team to help us realize our vision to ensure that we provide infrastructure that is secured by default and applied everywhere across the Linkedin ecosystem. This team is responsible for ensuring the foundations of trust by establishing trust between nodes managing identities and their lifecycle managing CA and its infrastructure and securing the root of trust. This combined with LinkedIns massive scale is an exciting space to be a part of right now.

The team is at an exciting juncture with a multi-year roadmap focused on building secure and usable authentication and authorization solutions that directly impact the entirety of LinkedIns infrastructure. You will be empowered to play a key role in helping us execute on our roadmap and vision. We are looking for an engineer with sound technical acumen and the enthusiasm to learn grow and lead.

Responsibilities:

You will design and develop secure performant and user intuitive solutions for security infrastructure at LinkedIns massive scale that operate 24x7.

You will drive rapid product innovation and delivery while maintaining engineering excellence

You will embrace and champion engineering best practices

You will produce high quality software that is unit tested code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

You will drive continuous self-development through curiosity learning and a desire to excel

You will participate in design and code reviews to maintain our high development standards.

You will partner with peers leads and internal customers to define scope prioritize and build cross organizational impactful features at a high velocity.

You will mentor other engineers and will help build a fast-growing team.

You will work closely with the open-source community to participate and influence cutting edge open-source projects (e.g. SPIRE HSM).


Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or related practical experience.

3 years of industry experience in software design development and algorithm related solutions.

3 years experience programming in object-oriented languages such as Java C Python Go Rust C# and/or other relevant coding languages

Hands on experience developing distributed systems large-scale systems databases and/or Backend APIs

Experience in infrastructure CI/CD pipeline 

Preferred Qualifications:

BS and 5 years of relevant work experience MS and 4 years of relevant work experience or PhD and 2 years of relevant work experience

Experience in architecting building and running large-scale distributed systems

Experience in infrastructure CI/CD pipeline and Kubernetes

Prior experience with Security and/or Cryptography strongly preferred such as secure key management PKI/CA lifecycle management TLS/mutual TLS.

Experience with industry opensource and/or academic research in technologies such as Kubernetes SPIFFE SPIRE GRPC cert-manager.

Experience with open-source project management and governance

Knowledge of or strong interest in learning Linux runtime security primitives such as secure/measured boot SELinux AppArmor seccomp and related kernel hardening mechanisms

Knowledge of or strong interest in learning hardware security elements such as Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs) and secure enclaves

Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set years & depth of experience certifications and specific office location.
