Application Support Specialist Global Market back office systems

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Support Specialist to join our Global Market Application Production Support team.

PLEASE NOTE: All must be available for face to face interviews in Japan or have a valid working visa for Japan

Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise

  • Deliver comprehensive support for Global Markets settlements and other systems
  • Conduct Start-of-Day checks and system monitoring within a follow-the-sun operational model.
  • Analyze system incidents identify root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Continuously monitor system performance usage and operational metrics to ensure optimal functionality and minimize failures.
  • Perform Quality Assurance Testing assist in User Acceptance Testing and manage deployments or upgrades of critical applications.
  • Maintain detailed system and process documentation.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate directly with business and operations users to understand their needs and propose effective solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders providing regular updates and insights.
  • Work closely with regional and global IT teams to ensure seamless operations.

Governance and Compliance

  • Adhere to established Change Incident and Problem Management procedures.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and maintain high documentation standards.

Additional Contributions

  • Participate in early support shifts and rotational weekend work including disaster recovery drills maintenance and releases.

Qualifications

Technical and Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of financial products or experience in an equivalent business
  • Proficiency in Python Unix scripting SQL VBA and Excel. Familiarity with DevOps and deployment automation is a plus.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Hands-on knowledge of tools like Dynatrace Autosys ServiceNow SharePoint Excel and JIRA.
  • Familiarity with Prime Brokerage Services Securities Borrowing and Lending and the Order and Trade lifecycle.
  • Technical expertise in databases (Oracle MSSQL) basic networking Client/Server and Cloud Architecture and messaging middleware (Solace IBM MQ).

Educational and Professional Background

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the IT financial industry particularly in Global Markets.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Japanese is preferred but not required.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Monitor and support critical financial applications to ensure seamless operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system incidents collaborating with global teams to implement fixes.
  • Engage with business users to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Perform system upgrades testing and deployments while adhering to governance protocols.
  • Document processes and share knowledge to enhance team efficiency.
