Whats the role

This is a strategic leadership role within Westpacs Chief Operating Office where youll be responsible for driving excellence across our risk and control environment. As the Manager for Business Controls and Monitoring youll provide expert guidance on First Line of Defence (1LOD) requirements ensuring our operational practices are aligned with regulatory expectations and internal standards.

Youll work closely with senior leadership to oversee non-financial risk management compliance prudential obligations and regulatory returns. Your remit will include business continuity planning (including CPS230) incident and issue monitoring supplier oversight and the development of key governance artefacts. This role is instrumental in embedding a proactive risk culture and delivering insights that enable informed decision-making across the division.

This is a full-time role based in Sydney working standard business hours with flexibility where it matters most.

What do I need

Were seeking a seasoned professional with a strong command of operational risk and governance capable of influencing at senior levels and driving strategic outcomes. Youll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in risk compliance or operational governance within a large complex organisation ideally within financial services.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks and non-financial risk management.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders providing clear actionable insights and strategic advice.
  • Strong analytical and evaluative judgement with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to lead through complexity manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.
