Job Summary

  • Part-time permanent position 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week) Hybrid working model.
  • $51.00 p/h $53.31 p/h Super Salary Packaging.
  • SCHADS Award Level 5 Pay point 1 -3 depending on experience.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Community Advocacy to join our Health Policy and Research team. This leadership role is ideal for someone passionate about driving positive change empowering communities and tackling barriers that affect the lives of people living with diabetes.

YOUR IMPACT

The Lead Community Advocacy plays a vital role in shaping and delivering Diabetes Victorias advocacy and engagement priorities. Leading a small passionate team this role coordinates our community advocacy peer support and engagement activities ensuring the voices and experiences of people living with diabetes are heard and acted upon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team delivering advocacy and community support services.
  • Provide responsive individual advocacy services for Victorian people living with diabetes and health professionals.
  • Manage impact projects that address systemic challenges such as discrimination access to care and inclusion.
  • Coordinate the Community Advisory Committee ensuring lived experience informs our work.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with government community organisations and stakeholders.
  • Represent Diabetes Victoria on working groups and contribute to campaigns policy submissions and engagement strategies.

ABOUT YOU

You are a skilled communicator and empathetic leader with a passion for community engagement and creating a more compassionate world for people living with or at risk of diabetes. You bring experience in working with individuals in a case management role advocacy stakeholder management and project delivery ideally in a health community or not-for-profit setting. Youll also bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work Public Health Community Development or a related discipline (Masters level desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and delivering community advocacy or engagement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of human rights inclusion and anti-discrimination principles.
  • Excellent communication presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and strategically across departments and sectors.

Essential: Current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
