The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta and the Emory University Department of Pediatrics invites qualified applicants to apply for an outstanding independent scientist position specialized in the area of Blood and Marrow Transplantation to join our faculty as an open rank position with or without tenure. The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center BMT program is one of the premier programs in the nation consisting of an extensive clinical program and a diverse research program. The research program includes well-funded basic clinical and translational research including multiple R01s K-awards and an NIH U54 grant on the immunogenicity of factor VIII. The candidate should bring a research focus that complements and builds on our existing addition candidates can join graduate programs at Emory University and recruit graduate students to their laboratories.

About the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center
The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center provides a rich and collaborative environment for clinical research with a well-funded Clinical Research Office. The successful candidate will join one of the countrys strongest pediatric cancer outcomes programs.
In 2024 the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center was ranked No. 12 in the nation for Pediatric Cancer by US News and World Report.
The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center has 125 faculty members and approximately 50 APPs conducting basic translational and clinical research related to pediatric oncology and hematology disorders with expertise in leukemias lymphomas brain tumors neuroblastoma sarcomas rare tumors renal tumors CAR T-cell therapies hemoglobinopathies and hemophilia..
The Aflac blood and marrow transplantation program performed over 80 transplants last year.
Childrens Healthcare of Atlantathe only tertiary pediatric center in the dynamic metropolitan Atlanta areaserves a population of over 6 million people providing a solid basis for clinical programs in rare disorders.

Successful candidates will have:

MD MD/PhD or PhD
o If MD must be Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
o If MD must be currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Georgia
A strong history of mentorship of trainees and junior faculty to support growth in research and scholarship
A history of academic excellence/achievement
A strong record of scholarship and proven success in obtaining extramural funding to conduct independent research within a defined area of investigation that relates to BMT and/or cellular therapies.
Willingness to work collaboratively to expand and strengthen current collaborations with investigators from other divisions and departments at Emory Georgia Tech Georgia State and the Morehouse School of Medicine.
