Attendance and Family Support Officer

Salary:

As the Attendance and Family Support Officer youll play a vital role in improving school attendance and wellbeing by building trusted relationships with families working closely with teachers therapists and safeguarding leads. Its a role that blends empathy with structure supporting families while ensuring every child has the best opportunity to succeed.

What Were Looking For

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in a related field (e.g. Health and Social Care Education Childcare).
  • Safeguarding training and strong knowledge of child protection procedures.
  • Previous experience in an education setting ideally within a special school environment.
  • Proven ability to work with children with autism and their families in a supportive capacity.
  • Experience of multi-agency collaboration and partnership working.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to conduct home visits when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage daily pupil attendance ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Liaise with families local authorities and external partners to address attendance concerns.
  • Develop and implement attendance action plans and early interventions.
  • Act as a first point of contact for families needing additional support offering guidance and signposting where appropriate.
  • Conduct home visits where necessary to strengthen engagement and understanding.
  • Support the schools safeguarding lead by recognising and reporting concerns in line with procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers therapists and wider support teams to promote pupil wellbeing and consistent attendance.
