Job Summary

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Tenancy Sustainment and Move on Officer on a 3-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 22.51- 30.09 per hour

Summary:

The Tenancy Sustainment and Move On Officer is a frontline role within Islingtons Housing Needs & Strategy service. The post holder is responsible for providing a comprehensive end-to-end support service for homeless householdsboth families and single peoplefrom the moment they enter temporary accommodation until they transition into permanent housing. This role adopts a trauma-informed approach to support vulnerable residents with complex health and social care needs ensuring they are treated with the highest level of care and respect.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage a caseload of households whose homeless applications are under investigation or have been accepted.
  • Conduct regular visits to monitor accommodation quality confirm occupancy and ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards.
  • Assist customers in establishing housing benefit claims and applying for Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) to maximize council rental income.
  • Enable customers to use the councils choice-based bidding system and make direct offers under the Supported Choice scheme where necessary.
  • Liaise with Childrens and Adults Social Services Registered Social Landlords and the private sector to ensure a seamless service for vulnerable residents.

Qualification:

  • Proficiency in the Housing Act 1996 (as amended 2002) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Essentials:

  • Prior experience working in areas such as homelessness social housing housing advice or allocations.
  • Proven experience dealing with the public particularly vulnerable individuals presenting with complex issues or challenging behavior
  • Strong understanding of welfare benefits and the impacts of welfare reform on homeless populations
  • Working knowledge of health and safety issues specifically related to temporary housing for vulnerable households.
  • Skilled in using Word Excel Outlook and bespoke client databases or electronic document management systems.

  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
