Our Job Rotation Program participants experience four 6-month rotation assignments in Information Technology-related positions over two years to provide broad exposure in different facets of Information Technology across campus. Rotational experiences consider individual interests and are designed and tailored by the program to meet university priorities. Employees are hired and onboarded as a cohort to provide a community experience with a focus on shared learning and contributing to the development of the program overall. All three tracks of the program - Finance Human Resources and Information Technology - prepare rotators to be well-equipped to transition to permanent roles on campus at the end of the program.

The Job Rotation Program is designed to develop high-potential talent into future leaders of the university. Upon successful completion of the two-year program participants receive an official program certification. Cohort members work with program management in the transition to permanent positions that are consistent with their career interests and the needs of the university.

There are multiple positions available.

The anticipated start date of this position is July 2026.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Answers complex questions and provides information creates documentation and trains end users regarding hardware software applications and technology access
  • Builds relationships with the rotation departments cohort alumni and JRP Manager and contributes to the growth and development of assigned departments and program overall

  • Installs maintains and troubleshoots hardware configurations multimedia and software applications for various environments and business needs
  • May design and execute the implementation of complex technology systems and services
  • Researches potential technology purchases and makes recommendations according to work unit business needs and requests
  • Engages in developmental related activities specific to the Rotation Program and each Rotation assignment

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $60601 and is not negotiable.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work on-campus in Madison WI. (Hybrid flexibility will vary rotation by rotation.)

  • Foundational information technology knowledge

  • Desire for experience across the diverse domains of Information Technology

  • Ability to work efficiently within ambiguity new environments and situations

  • Effective communication to staff and clients with varying IT knowledge and backgrounds

  • Ability to self-manage projects and tasks while working within ambiguity

  • Ability to find innovative solutions with a wide variety of clients and technologies

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior relevant internship or entry-level work experience

  • Presentation Skills

  • Capability to conduct research analyze data and discuss workable solutions

Education:

Preferred Bachelors Degreeor equivalent work experience in Information Technology Computer Science Information Systems or any other related field by start date.
