Job Description
The Director of Campus Recreation is a Student Affairs leadership position responsible for the strategic planning administration and oversight of the Campus Recreation department. This position will provide visionary leadership and ensure the integration of recreation fitness and wellness to support the holistic well-being of diverse students. The Director will work collaboratively with students faculty staff campus partners and the general public to foster a student-centered environment that promotes academic success personal development overall wellness and inclusivity.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters Degree in recreation sport management/administration or related field.
Minimum of five years of advanced professional experience in the management of a collegiate recreation program and facilities.
Experience with managing large teams and overseeing multifaceted departments or programs.
Strong knowledge of student recreation and wellness practices and higher education trends.
Ability to develop and manage budgets and secure and allocate resources effectively.
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
The ability to foster collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders including students faculty staff administrators and the general public.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity equity and inclusion in all aspects of departmental programming and services.
Preferred Qualification
Experience and comprehensive knowledge in a university setting with oversight of a complex set of principles policies practices and data appliable to the operations of multiple functions of recreation programs.
Experience and ability to serve as recognized authoritative expert across one or more functional areas on behalf of university managing facilities and programs related to student recreation.
Knowledge of legal ethical and compliance issues related to student recreational operations.
NIRSA (National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association) member.

Work safely at all times which includes but is not limited to participating and completing all required safety trainings as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools equipment and personal protective equipment.

The position is based in an office setting with regular interactions across campus facilities including recreation center sports dome and other recreational spaces.
Occasional evening and weekend work required depending on events or emergency situations.
This position requires a valid applicable drivers license as travel on and off campus to meetings and conferences and ability to drive utility vehicles are a part of this position
The ability to lift carry install move and repair a variety of equipment.
