Job Summary:

Our Job Rotation Program participants experience four 6-month rotation assignments in finance-related positions over two years to provide broad exposure in different facets of finance across campus. Rotational experiences consider individual interests and are designed and tailored by the program to meet university priorities. Employees are hired and onboarded as a cohort to provide a community experience with a focus on shared learning and contributing to the development of the program overall. All three tracks of the program - Finance Human Resources and Information Technology - prepare rotators to be well-equipped to transition to permanent roles on campus at the end of the program.

The Job Rotation Program is designed to develop high-potential talent into future leaders of the university. Upon successful completion of the two-year program participants receive an official program certification. Cohort members work with program management in the transition to permanent positions that are consistent with their career interests and the needs of the university.

There are multiple positions available.

The anticipated start date of this position is July 2026.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Engage in developmental related activities specific to the Rotation Program and each

    Rotation assignment

  • Analyzes data and trends compiles progress reports and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s)
  • Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies
  • Builds relationships with the rotation departments cohort alumni and JRP Manager and

    contributes to the growth and development of assigned departments and program overall

  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $53000 and is not negotiable.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work on-campus in Madison WI (Hybrid flexibility will vary rotation by rotation.)

  • Learning agility and desire for experience across the diverse domains of finance and accounting including budgeting financial statements modeling and research administration

  • Adaptability to adjust to new work environments and flexibility to adjust actions and mindset to new situations

  • Effective communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to take initiative in advocating and prioritizing workload and self-manage projects handle multiple tasks and work within ambiguity

  • Detail-oriented and robust problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Foundational financial knowledge and/or related experience

  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to prepare analyze and interpret financial and other data

  • Proficiency in Excel such as familiarity with formulas and pivot tables

  • Able to work with all levels of employees and management within the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior relevant internship or entry-level experience

  • Knowledge of financial principles practices and procedures

  • Experience with projects and day-to-day administrative financial work

  • Ability to analyze and communicate financial and business information and metrics

  • Presentation skills

Education:

Preferred: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in Finance Business Accounting Economics Mathematics Statistics or any other related field by start date
