Job Summary
The Division of Oncology in the Department of Medicine is recruiting for two part-time hospitalists internists or general practitioners in oncology for an opportunity to join the current team of physicians that support inpatient oncology care. Our Oncology Unit located at Brampton Civic Hospital has 23 dedicated addition to inpatient management of complications of malignancy or treatment we provide inpatient chemotherapy and manage patients post autologous stem cell transplantation in which standardized protocols have been created. Our Oncology Unit is supported by a rotating schedule of MDs supporting the unit with a transition to have two MDs covering at a given time in addition to nurse practitioners that have expertise in managing complex patients with solid tumours and hematologic malignancies. Additional supports include palliative care allied health malignant effusions program and access to radiation oncology. Back-up subspecialist support from medical oncology will be available when needed. Remuneration is supported a stipend in addition to fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees.
About the Program
The Oncology Program sees over 3000 new oncology consults annually and provides care for patients at Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital with a satellite clinic at Headwaters Health Care Centre. The program sees a wide variety of solid tumours and hematologic malignancies supported by 16 hematologists/oncologists.
Qualifications :
- Accredited medical degree (or equivalent)
- Certification and/or Fellowship in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or College of Family Physicians
- License to practice and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Additional oncology exposure will be an asset but is not a requirement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record of attendance punctuality and accountability
- Models behaviour that aligns with Oslers Values of Respect Excellence Service Compassion Innovation and Collaboration
- Expertise in clinical teaching or clinical research preferred for those interested in education or research
