River Nile School (RNS) is seeking expressions of interest from passionate individuals to join our teaching team in 2026. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an independent senior secondary school that supports young women from refugee backgrounds. RNS offers small class sizes and teachers work collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for each student with personalised learning wellbeing and support programs.
Who we are:
The River Nile School (RNS) is an independent senior-secondary school for young women aged 15-24 who may have had disrupted schooling have newly arrived in Australia or find a flexible learning environment most suitable to their learning. All students who attend RNS have English as an Additional Language (EAL) so developing student levels of language literacy and numeracy (LLN) is a central focus of our teachers. RNS offers students the VCE Vocational Major (VM) the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) and VET Certificates through an integrated program. It provides a high-challenge high-support learning environment with a strengths-based approach. Find more information on our website:
Who were looking for:
We are also looking for teaching staff who are interested in joining our team in different capacities in 2026. With the continued growth of student numbers we are expecting to need more teachers to deliver our VPC and VM programs to our English Language Learners and welcome Expressions of Interest from VIT registered and Graduate teachers who would like to join our team. If you also hold a TAE teaching qualification there are opportunities for roles that work across both sections of our school.
We have a unique student cohort so you will liaise closely with our Student Support Team and external agencies to ensure appropriate individualised responses to student wellbeing needs using a trauma-informed (healing) practice model.
