Are you ready to get out of the traditional classroom Do you want to teach the whole child without the constraints of a traditional curriculum Do you want to work only when your own children are at school We are seeking a skilled and intuitive individual to provide 1:1 instruction to our six year old son in Brunswick Maine. About our child:Our son is an academically and intellectually gifted first grader who has diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder ADHD and anxiety. He has been described by his former teachers as loving charming friendly and their favorite part of the day. He tends to be much-loved by adults who find him an extremely interesting and rewarding student. He has challenges with emotional regulation social cues and peer interaction and frustration tolerance. His academic skills are multiple years ahead of grade level while his social and emotional skills are years behind. Because of his uneven profile of strengths and needs we are seeking someone who can assist us in homeschooling him. We are open to a variety of arrangements and schedules and will be very flexible for the right person. We are prepared to compensate skills experience and certifications as appropriate. Ideally we would find a certified teacher who is prepared to manage our childs school day from 9AM-2PM M-F and can partner with us to determine and implement curriculum while supporting his social emotional development. We are happy to support enrichment and supportive activities such as swimming lessons occupational therapy play groups BCBA consultation etc. Special education background is highly preferred particularly experience working with highly intelligent autistic children. We are also open to an experienced ed tech who can support curriculum that we prepare and introduce. If this sounds at all interesting to you please be in touch to discuss.
