Afterschool Club Manager
Hours: 13.75hours per week (Mon-Fri 3:15pm-6pm)
The staff and Governors at Darnhall Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic friendly and reliable afterschool club manager to join our team.
The afterschool club manager is a member of a team of practitioners responsible for the care and safety of the children in our Afterschool Club Homehub. They are responsible for ensuring the smooth daily running of Afterschool Club where children from age 3-11 are cared for in a home-from-home environment. The manager will work as part of a team providing activities for the childrens health and wellbeing in a secure environment. They are required to manage groups of children and to use their own initiative to organise activities and tasks.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Oversee the daily operation of the afterschool club ensuring a safe stimulating and enjoyable environment for all children.
- Supervise and support staff ensuring roles are clearly defined and duties are performed effectively.
- Lead by example promoting professionalism teamwork and high standards of conduct.
- Ensure appropriate staff ratios and deploy staff effectively within the environment to meet childrens needs.
Childcare and Safeguarding
- Ensure the welfare safety and wellbeing of all children in line with the schools safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Maintain accurate registers emergency contacts and health/allergy information.
- Ensure basic first aid is administered as necessary and record any accidents or incidents promptly in accordance with school policy.
- Promote positive behaviour and manage any behavioural issues consistently and fairly feeding back to parents and SLT as necessary.
- Provide inclusive activities that meet the diverse needs interests and abilities of all children.
Planning and Activities
- Plan prepare and deliver a range of engaging age-appropriate activities including creative physical and educational play.
- Encourage childrens independence cooperation and social development through play and structured activities.
- Support homework or quiet activities where appropriate.
- Encourage healthy lifestyles through activities and snacks that promote wellbeing.
Communication
- Maintain positive communication with parents carers SLT and school staff about childrens participation behaviour and wellbeing.
- Liaise with senior leadership and teaching staff to ensure consistency between the school day and after-school provision.
Administration and Organisation
- Maintain accurate records of attendance accidents and incidents.
- Manage registers and attendance in line with school policies.
- Ensure that resources equipment and spaces are well maintained safe and appropriately stored.
- Monitor resources and food shopping requesting supplies as needed.
Health Safety and Compliance
- Ensure the afterschool club operates in accordance with statutory requirements such as Ofsted Health and Safety and safeguarding regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments of the environment and activities.
- Follow and uphold the schools policies for confidentiality equality and data protection.
- Attend regular training in safeguarding first aid food hygiene and other relevant areas.
The successful candidate will hold a relevant teaching assistant qualification. First aid training is desirable but not essential.
