JOB TITLE: Coordinator of School SafetyREPORTS TO: Director of School SafetyLOCATION: Worcester Public Schools Worcester MassachusettsPOSITION PURPOSEThe Coordinator of School Safety will assist with the implementation of the districts comprehensive safety and security programs within the district. This position involves managing all aspects of school safety from emergency preparedness training and compliance as well as coordination of districts physical security. The position will require experience in school or public safety understanding of crisis management and a commitment to fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and JOB FUNCTIONS (may be included along with other responsibilities)Program Development & Implementation: Assist with implementing district-wide safety and security protocols policies and procedures. This includes creating and updating emergency response plans for various scenarios (e.g. active threats natural disasters medical emergencies).Incident Response & Crisis Management: Participate on all school safety-related incidents. Coordinate with law enforcement first responders and other external agencies during emergencies as assigned by the Director of School Safety. Conduct post-incident reviews to identify areas for improvement and adjust safety protocols & Drills: Participate as directed in the delivery of safety training programs for staff and administrators that aligns with the district parameters. This includes coordinating and conducting regular safety drills such as lockdown severe weather drills etc. and ensuring all schools are compliant with state and federal Security Management: Supports the Director of School Safety and districts Facilities Team with the oversight of the physical security infrastructure including surveillance systems alarm systems access control and communication systems. Conduct regular risk assessments of school buildings to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies particularly for aging infrastructure. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with school principals district leaders and community stakeholders to promote a culture of safety. Supposts the Director for all safety and security matters ensuring clear and timely communication with all relevant & Resource Management: Participate in the allocation of resources for security and training as well as assisting with the prioritization of security upgrades. Evaluate new technologies and programs to ensure the district is using the most effective and efficient safety AND REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Public Administration or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a school safety law enforcement or security management role preferably in a K-12 setting. Strong knowledge of emergency management principles and crisis communication. Excellent communication analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills. Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively with diverse in a relevant field (e.g. NIMS FEMA I Love U Guys etc)Must have the ability to travel within the district as necessary. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Masters degree in Criminal Justice Public Administration or a related field. 5 years of experience in a school safety law enforcement or security management role preferably in a K-12 setting. Experience working with urban school districts and older includes IS-700 ICS-100 ICS-200WORK YEAR: 52-WeeksWORK DAY: This is a full-time professional position that may require work at times outside of regular work hours when necessary to perform : $56.82 hourly/$118185 annually
