What youll do

  • Assist with the maintenance and improvement of parks gardens playgrounds and sporting grounds
  • Learn to plant prune fertilise and care for trees shrubs lawns and gardens
  • Safely use hand tools power tools and small machinery
  • Take part in both on-the-job and formal off-the-job training
  • Follow workplace health and safety requirements and environmental practices
  • Work collaboratively with your team to deliver quality outcomes for the community

What were looking for

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has completed a minimum of Year 10 (a pre-apprenticeship or previous exposure to horticulture landscaping or outdoor work will be highly regarded but not essential)
  • Is genuinely interested in horticulture landscaping or parks maintenance and enjoys practical hands-on work outdoors
  • Is committed to learning and completing the apprenticeship qualification
  • Is safety conscious with an understanding of safe work habits and the importance of following procedures
  • Is reliable responsible and a good communicator who works well in a team environmentIs physically capable of performing manual work in varying outdoor conditions

Recruitment timeline

A Group Assessment Centre will be held at Councils Depot at 4 Alex Pike Drive Raleigh on Tuesday 2 December 2025 from 8:30am to approx. 1:00pm and all shortlisted applicants must attend. Please ensure you are available on this date as this session will not be rescheduled.

  • Interview invitations sent - Week of 17 Nov 2025
  • Assessment Centre - 2 December 2025
  • Reference Checks commence - 8 December 2025
  • Pre-employment medicals - 8 & 9 December 2025
  • Employment Offers - Week of 15 December 2025
  • Start date - 2 February 2026

Weekly wage is dependent on age and will range from $482.00 for a 15 year old to $827.40 for 18 years.
