About Company: Our client is a leading Civil Engineering and Construction firm in Nigeria.
The company is seeking to hire a Senior Project Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for managing all project costs associated with building and civil engineering worksfrom initial estimates to final accounts. The role seeks to optimize cost efficiency and value for money while ensuring compliance with project standards specifications and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing tender and contract documents including bills of quantities
Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work and advise
Undertaking feasibility studies to establish the clients requirements
Performing risk and value management during construction
Advising on procurement strategy
Identifying analyzing and developing responses to commercial risks
Evaluate subcontractors proposals and establish an optimum cost benchmark to achieve value for money
Allocating work to subcontractors and overseeing their work at all stages of the construction process
Identifying gaps between BOQ and drawings specifications and conditions of the contract and taking them to a logical closure
Develop and establish project controls for monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project identifying
cost-saving opportunities
Providing advice on contractual claims
Analyzing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
Develop a project budget and cash flow forecast to increase efficiency in project cost control and maintain historical cost data.
Effective cash management including timely application/certification/invoicing
Identifying and costing change orders variation orders and fluctuation claims
Develop and agree on a valuation schedule (if not stated in the contract) and implement identify variations order and prepare variation account/payment certificates and final accounts
Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use
Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
Providing post-occupancy advice facilities management services and life cycle costing advice
Data input of assigned project(s) with the aid of various IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke ERP packages
Regular cost reviews of all schedules of rates to ensure their continued relevance by undertaking monthly reviews
Market surveys of construction materials to provide up-to-date cost database feedback to Estimators with regard to pricing trends.
Undertaking work studies of various construction work activities on site for the purpose of measuring and recording production outputs of various construction activities on site to provide feedback to the estimators on manpower and equipment regarding future pricing
Provide support to bid and business development processes through providing constructive commercial input as required
Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
Minimum of 12 years relevant experience in building and civil engineering projects.
Membership with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) or equivalent professional body.
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word Project and relevant cost management software.
Excellent written analytical and presentation skills.
