Strategic Initiatives Manager

(Full-Time Exempt Position)

Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm located in the Skid Row neighborhood of Los Angeles. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants working-poor families people who are disabled or experiencing homelessness people living with HIV/AIDS and homeless veterans.

Position Description: ICLC seeks a highly motivated Strategic Initiatives Manager who will play a key role in advancing cross-functional projects that strengthen our legal services and improve internal systems. Reporting to the Strategic Initiatives Director this position is responsible for managing andimplementing project activities to ensure projects are on track with measurable results. The Manager works closely with senior leadership program and operations teams on projects ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Current Strategic Initiatives projects include improvements to screening referral and intake systems development of client feedback systems creating legal supervision and case management standards and expanding organizational language access protocols and resources. This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and is comfortable with time-limited early-stage projects that may shift in scope in response to changing organizational needs and priorities.

Responsibilities:

Project Development and Management

  • Manage the design and rollout of organization-wide projects related to improving legal services delivery across program teams and strengthening data quality.
  • Create and maintain clear project plans with goals benchmarks timelines and deliverables with clear and consistent communication to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to design gather feedback and implement new processes and systems.
  • Lead project meetings including setting agendas documenting decisions and action items and tracking follow up.
  • Serve as a point of contact for cross-team collaboration.

Strengthening Legal Services Delivery

  • Lead the development of standards on effective legal case management.
  • Partner with program teams to optimize case workflows with document automation tools (e.g. Clio Draft).
  • Develop organizational referral systems and resources.

Client feedback and data

  • Develop workflows for client feedback systems and research innovative feedback models.
  • Manage client feedback survey distribution and response tracking.
  • Synthesize feedback data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Create reports and presentations to share findings with staff and leadership.

Language justice coordination

  • Collaborate on developing language access protocols and resources to improve access to services.
  • Identify trainings on and help implement best practices for language justice.
  • Track usage of language services.

Systems and process improvement

  • Investigate external tools and software for project-specific needs (e.g. SMS platforms to support client survey automation legal document automation workflows).
  • Document new processes and systems including creating written guidance for staff.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal audiences.

Administrative and operational support

  • Provide logistical and administrative support for projects including scheduling documentation and resource organization.
  • Support other projects to enhance strategic and administrative effectiveness of the COO CEO and senior leadership.
  • Help with organization program evaluation efforts and effective dissemination of findings recommendations and lessons learned to increase program efficiency and improve future program design and scaling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Hiring Criteria: Commitment to ICLCs mission and values. Mission driven and dedicated to eradicating homelessness and dismantling the systems that contribute to it. Committed to equity diversity and racial justice. A minimum of 3 years of experience in program administration direct legal services or nonprofit program coordination. Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities with initiative. Demonstrated ability to manage collaborative projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized and comfortable with project management tools and systems. Familiarity with legal service delivery models and addressing service needs (e.g. legal services social services family/children support etc.) of individuals or families from vulnerable populations. Must have access to reliable transportation.

Compensation: Salary compensation ranges from $68640 - $80000 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits.
