Middle School Academic Coach (Part-Time 2025 hours/week)

Overview
The Martin Luther King Community Center is seeking a dedicated Academic Coach to support middle school students in Broad Ripple. As an Academic Coach you will play a pivotal role in helping students navigate their academic journey develop leadership skills and explore future opportunities including the 21st Century Scholars program. Working alongside our trauma-informed two-generation team you will be a key guide for students and families ensuring every child has the support and encouragement they need to thrive academically and personally. This part-time role offers 2025 hours per week with a flexible schedule that aligns with school programs and student engagement.
A Day in the Life
As an Academic Coach no two days are the samebut every day is meaningful. On Tuesday through Thursday youll co-facilitate our Leadership In Training (LIT) program during school lunch hours helping students build leadership social-emotional skills and academic confidence. Youll check grades identify students at risk and connect them with resources like tutors and after-school programs. Mondays and Fridays are dedicated to program check-ins parent engagement and tracking student progress in our data systems. Youll be an active presence in both the school and MLK Center spaces fostering relationships with students families and school administrators while capturing success stories and outcomes in reports and systems. Creativity and initiative are encouragedyoull have the flexibility to build and personalize program components from special incentive activities to collaboratively crafting workshops and family engagement events with a comprehensive team.

You meet the non-negotiables: a valid drivers license some experience with middle school youth and Child & Youth Care (CYC) Certification (or willingness to obtain within 3-6 months).
Schedule: 2025 hours/week; primarily TuesdayThursday 9:30 a.m.2 p.m. (11 a.m.1 p.m. at Broad Ripple for LIT programming additional time before and after for administrative work/reporting) Monday & Friday 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. for routine student check-ins and family engagement.
